Program Overview

The Master of Science in Accounting (MACC) is a 10-course, 30-credit online accounting degree designed to provide students with a robust foundation of academic study in accounting. This program can be completed in as little as 14 months. When combined with a 120-credit undergraduate accounting program, the MACC program meets the 150-credit requirement for licensure in many states.

The MACC program is a professional master’s degree designed to provide a mature understanding of accepted practices in the field of accounting. Our advanced industry-specific credits, coupled with the appropriate undergraduate coursework, help students become more knowledgeable accountants. The MACC is structured to maximize  success on accounting certification exams through accounting theory and coverage of advanced accounting topics.

What You'll Learn

The MACC is offered in a 100% asynchronous online format, with a strong focus on engaging students in a dynamic and interactive learning format. Courses are five weeks long, with eight sessions per year. The program is designed for students to take one course per five-week session. 

After completing this degree, you will be equipped to:

  • Utilize advanced accounting concepts in financial statement preparation and conduct analysis of financial statement data
  • Interpret financial statements and disclosure notes using GAAP and GAAS and make strategic and integrative decisions
  • Demonstrate ethical decision-making and professional responsibility when faced with business problems
  •  Critique global business transactions and employ appropriate accounting theory

Career Preparation

With a Master of Science in Accounting, you will be prepared to excel in positions like: Senior accountant; Accounting manager; Corporate controller; Financial analyst; Senior auditor; Finance manager; Chief financial officer. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the yearly median salary for financial analyst is *$96,220 and is expected to grow 8% from 2022 to 2032, faster than average for all occupations. The path is also bright for financial managers, with an annual median pay of **$139,790 and projected growth of 16% from 2022 to 2032, much faster than the average for all occupations.

  • Submit your personal statement. Write a 250-word, typed, double-spaced essay describing your professional experience, goals and objectives for graduate study. How do you expect your graduate studies to enhance your future career?
  • Complete an interview. You’ll have an interview with Admissions or Faculty interview, generally by phone
For good cause shown, at the discretion of the Program Chair, institutional admissions requirements may be waived or altered upon written approval by the Program Chair.

COST:  The cost with the discount is $494 per credit hour, which has been reduced from $705 per credit hour. Plus, at Cambridge College, approximately 40% of courses eliminate the need for external books or materials.
