Application Tips: Edvance

Ready to take the next step toward your degree? Whether you're applying for the first time or coming back after a break, here are a few simple tips to guide you through the process.

Applying to school doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. Whether you’re picking up where you left off or starting fresh, these tips will help you stay on track and feel confident from start to finish.

1. Choose the Right Program for You

Use the Edvance Marketplace to compare schools, programs, and tuition discounts through your Union College Benefit.

Not sure what to pick? A Student Success Coordinator can help you weigh your options. Book a meeting here. You can also apply to more than one school, since there are no application fees.

2. Finish Your Application

Once you’ve selected a program, finish your application on the school’s website. If you already started one, log back in and continue where you left off.

There is no cost to applying to any of the schools in our Marketplace. Be sure to use the correct application link so they know you're a Union College Benefit applicant.

2. Gather Your Transcripts

Colleges will need your official transcripts to build your degree plan and transfer in any previous credits.

  • Make a list of all the academic institutions you’ve attended.

  • Most transcripts can be requested through  Parchment  or National Student Clearinghouse.

  • Have them sent directly to the school you’re applying to.

Can't find your school on these sites? Contact that school directly to find out how to request your official transcripts be sent to the school you're applying to.

3. Complete Your FAFSA (if applicable)

If you're applying for a degree program and want to use federal financial aid:

  • Visit studentaid.gov to complete your FAFSA

  • Use the school’s FAFSA code that you're interested in attending on the FAFSA application.

    • Bay Path University:  002122
    • Cambridge College: 021829
    • Central Community College: 014468
    • Herzing University: 009621
    • Southeastern University:  001521
    • Trine University: 001839
    • William Woods University: 002525
  • Be sure to use your legal name and accurate information.

Even if you’re unsure about using aid, completing the FAFSA is a great way to see what your options are.
